TEMA Cures "Fixed Format Syndrome" with Bar Tender Integration with MAS 90

Problem:

A customer had installed Bar Tender Label Design software and had several similar fixed formats that were all very similar.  Each format contained fixed data that was based on the SKU.  So if a customer ordered 80 different SKUs, they had 80 formats for that customer.  Whenever that customer ordered additional SKUs, new formats needed to be created.  When their customer requested a change to their label format, this required every format to be changed.  Whenever labels for multiple SKUs were required, it meant someone had to be available to select the fixed format and print each SKU individually.

Solution:

TEMA Solutions created a few generic label formats.  Using the ODBC and Visual Basic Scripting capabilities available with Bar Tender, we were able to integrate the Item Master Table data from MAS 90 with Bar Tender, and generate labels with data from the Item Master table.  This also meant that, as new products are added to the MAS 90 database, labels could immediately be generated for those products.  In addition, the built-in database record selection and print quantity entry capabilities of Bar Tender allows the user to set up long print runs of thousands of labels at a time, set up a label re-winder, and become immediately more productive.

Prototype Tracking System helps Electronics Manufacturer Track Prototypes during New Product Introduction

TEMA Solutions, Inc. helped a local electronics manufacturer keep track of high value prototypes during the development stages of new product development. Using a combination of PC-based software and hand-held Pocket PC devices, users are able to track the status of prototypes, assign tasks, make notes, etc. from remote locations and synchronize the database on the handheld with the centralized database.

The system allows users to report on the status of prototypes, and is made available throughout the organization on their Local Area Network.

TEMA is currently working on adding new functionality in an ongoing effort to expand the use of the critical information.
